  144. FILEJET is a Filemanager and Editor for MS-DOS (WINDOWS) und OS/2. FILEJET
  145. allows a uniform Operation in the two Operating Systems.
  146.  
  147. Quick access to files is realised by one key stroke or a mouseclick per operation. (Shortcut
  148. Keys).
  149.  
  150. FILEJET is a small program with about 250kB Disk usage per Operating System. It's
  151. perfectly usable as servicetool, even startet from floppy disk.
  152.  
  153. Directorytrees are saved on harddisk and read only after user action. Quick access to the
  154. Directories is possible without reading the whole tree.
  155.  
  156. FILEJET supports long filenames (HPFS) and networking.
  157.  
  158. Multiple file edit is possible with the integrated fileeditor. Functions to copy text from one
  159. file to another are implemented.
  160.  
  161. Several display options makes FILEJET useful for everyone.

  163. 2.0 Description of Program features

  167. You can define in Setup for the following functions your own programms.
  168.  
  169.   Edit

  172.   Wordprocessing

  174. These programms are started with the actual file as parameter if the specific function is
  175. activated.
  176. 2.2 Start large programms
  177.  
  178. In the DOS Version the program uses Expanded- or Extendedmemory to swap program
  179. memory while before executing commands. This allows starting large programms using the
  180. whole DOS Memory.
  181.  
  182. 2.3 User Pulldown
  183.  
  184. With the definition of a User Pulldown you can pop up a pulldown whenever FILJET
  185. waiting for a key by pressing the Hotkey ALT-F7.
  186.  
  187. This is for example usable during copying a lot of files to floppy disk. If FILEJET asks you
  188. for a new disk and you haven't got a formatted one. Pressing ALT-F7 allows you to jump
  189. to the operating system, or if defined format directly a disk. After leaving the Userpulldown
  190. FILEJET continues normal operation.
  191.  
  192. Its possible to activate directly the user pulldown after program start.  (See chapter 5.3.1).

  194. 3.0 Operating concept
  195.  
  196. The following picture shows the main window of FILEJET after program start. In the file
  197. window you see all directories and all files in alphabetic order (default). It is possible to
  198. show the directory in a second window.

  274. Actually all user input is processes via the keyboard and with
  275. the mouse.

  277. 3.1.1 Change Drive
  278.  
  279. In the filelist, the directorytree and the filewindow of the
  280. Editor, you can change Drive by pressing  CTRL- and the specific
  281. drive key.
  282.

  285. With 'L' or a single mouseclick on the CTRL-Field a overview of
  286. all drives in the system is displayed for further selection.

  288. 3.1.2 Activate Pulldown
  289.  
  290. You can activate a pulldown with ALT- and the specific Hotkey of
  291. the desired Pulldownentry.
  292.  
  293. 3.1.3 Macrorecorder
  294.  
  295. A Macrorecorder is part of FILEJET. You can use it to learn a
  296. key sequence and replay it once or multiple times.
  297.  
  298.  ALT-1 starts and stopps recording.
  299.  ALT-2 starts replay with replay factor
  300.  ALT-3 starts replay one time
  301.  
  302. With this function you can automise a operation you wish to do
  303. with all files in a filelist.
  304.

  307. With the following key combinations the line editor supports
  308. some special functions :

  334. For some functions, the program uses dialog windows. You can
  335. jump from one edit field to another with TAB and SHIFT-TAB. In
  336. an editfield you can immediate edit the string after activating
  337. the specific field. Using the mouse a field ist selected with a
  338. single mouseclick and executed after two mouseclicks.

  340. Yes/No Buttons are marked with [ ] and toggeld with the SPACE
  341. key.
  342.  
  343. Pressing RETURN ends the dialog and starts the specific
  344. function.

  419. RETURN selects the actual file. The filecursor moves forward one file.

  421. Directories can't be selected. Pressing RETURN on a directory changes the path to it.

  425. 'K' for MASK defines a filemask for the filewindow. All files matching the mask are

  563. This function copies files or directories. Copying one file or
  564. multiple files with confirmation causes FILEJET to display a
  565. warning if the destination file already exists.

  567. If files are copied to floppy disk and the disk space is
  568. exhausted, a new disk is demanded.
  569.  
  570. If no formatted disk is present pressing ALT-F7 displays the
  571. User Pulldown. In this Pulldown there should be at least one
  572. entry to jump to the operating system for further operations.

  574. If you copy directories, you can copy the whole directory tree.
  575. Empty subdirectories will be created.

  577. After activation the function the destination path should be
  578. entered in the command line. If  the directory is new, it will
  579. be created after accepting. It is possible to enter multiple
  580. directories without existance of the single subdirectories. All
  581. directories will be created.

  1330. Its possible to define a User pulldown in a ASCII File named

  1335. It is activated by pressing the hotkey ALT-F7  every time when
  1336. FILEJET is waiting for a key. Sometimes this is the only way to
  1337. jump quickly to the operating system for formatting a floppy
  1338. disk when no formatted disk is available (for example). Under
  1339. OS/2 this is no problem, but for DOS task switching is not
  1340. possible.

  1344. The start of a pulldown definition in marked by a special char
  1345. followed by a > character. The ^ marks the hotkey in the

  1442. Copy all files from the disk to a destination directory on your
  1443. harddisk.
  1444.  
  1445. Then you have to define your programs like editor,
  1446. wordprocessing and file viewer in the SETUP Pulldown of FILEJET.
  1447. To activate this Pulldown you have to enter ALT-T.
  1448.  
  1449. Program entries must be entered including the complete path of
  1450. the program. FILEJET checks the existance of the program before
  1451. accepting the name.

  1454. 4.1 Environment and FILEJET-Files

  1456. FILEJET needs one Environmentvariable called FILEJET.  Please
  1457. set it in CONFIG.SYS (for OS/2) or in AUTOEXEC.BAT (for DOS) to
  1458. the path, the file and its additional files is located.

  1478. In the FILEJET-Preference File (fj.pre, fj2.pre) you can combine
  1479. a fileextension with a command you want to execute with files
  1480. matching this extension. After executing QUICK-START in the
  1481. filelist, the actual fileexetension is searched in the
  1482. preference file, and when found directly executed.

  1484. During command execution with 'o' for COMMAND the preference
  1485. file is searched, and the resulting command is offerd for
  1486. further edit functions in the command line.

  1488. You can define 30 extensin entries in the preference file.
